High-performing organisations recognise that strong alignment between the board and executive team is essential – but not always easy to achieve. This session explores how leading boards foster clarity, trust and constructive challenge to translate shared purpose into measurable outcomes. Using real world insights and benchmark data from BoardOutlook, we examine key areas of alignment – and misalignment – between boards and management. Participants will learn about practical tools and fresh perspectives to assess and improve the board management dynamic in their own organisations.

Sarah Graff, GAICD
Vice President & Head of Strategic Accounts, BoardOutlook

Ms Sarah Graff leads the strategic ccounts team at BoardOutlook, partnering with listed and private boards across a spectrum of industries globally. A strong believer in the power of objective data to enhance board performance, she brings deep experience and sharp insight to her work. Sarah is a regular speaker on governance panels and is known for translating BoardOutlook’s extensive global benchmarking data into actionable, forward-thinking perspectives for boards and leadership teams. Passionate about impact, she helps boards move from evaluation to measurable improvement.



Alison Barrass
Board chair, AA Insurance

Ms Alison Barrass is a professional director and former CEO. She serves as chair of AA Insurance and Babich Wines, and is a board member of Suncorp New Zealand, Zespri International Precinct Property and Rockit Global. She has leadership experience in large scale consumer goods organisations and previously worked in sales, marketing and operations. Ms Barrass has operated in New Zealand, Australia and Southeast Asia and led significant mergers and acquisitions across geographies and industries. She is passionate about people, brands and technology and focuses on providing support to New Zealand businesses to help them grow and transformation locally and internationally, through effective leadership, smart business design and innovation.

Bill Chua
Independent Director, Swan & Maclaren Group

Mr Bill Chua is an Independent Director on several boards including Citibank Singapore, United Hampshire US REIT Management, Amara Holdings and Swan & Maclaren Group. His former board appointments include both local and international corporations such as Singapore Technologies Electronics, Jurong International, DSO National Laboratories, Defence Science & Technology Agency, Sunseap Group , CLS AG and Green Sands Equity. He retired from UOB in 2014 after 34 years in the financial services sector. Active in the finance, education and social areas, Mr Chua serves as an advisory board member of the SMU Business School, a resource member at two parliamentary committees and as a member of investment committees at SUTD, SAFRA and Singapore Cricket Club.

Alvin Chiang
Board Governance and Development Leader, APAC, Russell Reynolds Associates

Mr Alvin Chiang partners with regional and international clients on their leadership and governance challenges. Based in Singapore, he utilises his expertise and experience to help directors and CEOs better understand the nuances of governance as well as enhance performance and improve dynamics within their boards. He has spent time in commercial and consulting roles, his last role as the Chief Strategy Officer of a Singapore-listed construction firm. Before that, Mr Chiang was a Senior Manager in PwC’s Risk Assurance practice, where he advised boards on corporate governance and enterprise risk.
