About SID Board Readiness Programme

The one-year programme takes attendees through a comprehensive development journey, which includes self-assessment, professional training, board simulation exercises, mentorship and professional networking. As part of the programme, attendees can opt to take the Accreditation Exam to earn the SID Accredited Director credential.

Delivered by SID and its pre-eminent knowledge partners from across the governance ecosystem, the holistic programme seeks to raise awareness of the risks and opportunities confronting board directors. It focuses on equipping attendees with the essential knowledge and skills required of board directors.

On 28 July 2023, the first edition of BRP which launched as SID-SCS Women in Tech Board Readiness Programme (SID-SCS WIT BRP). A collaboration with Singapore Computer Society Women in Tech Chapter (SCS WIT), this version of BRP was exclusive to SCS WIT. The aim was to expand the talent pool of board-ready women leaders with a background or expertise in tech, so as to increase board diversity in terms of gender and functional expertise.

The second edition, to be launched in July 2024, will see two tracks of BRP being conducted concurrently – the SID-SCS WIT BRP for women in tech senior executives, and SID BRP for SID members. Having two tracks conducted concurrently will allow attendees to cross pollinate ideas with attendees from diverse backgrounds and enhance peer-learning.

Organisations, including non profit or statutory boards, look to their board to help them navigate the changing environment and steer them towards achieving their long-term goals. In order to participate meaningfully in board conversations, directors need to understand what is required of them, and be equipped with relevant directorship knowledge and skills so they can perform their roles. This course will lay a strong foundation for aspiring directors and pave their way towards effectiveness on a board.

While the board of a family-owned entity may have other considerations such as family shareholder dynamics and preserving the legacy, the fundamental duties and responsibilities of its directors are the same as any other board director - to act in the best interests of the company and its stakeholders. About SID-SCS WIT Board Readiness Programme

Following an MOU signed in Sep 2022 to increase the digital quotient of board directors and boards, SID and SCS leveraged the flagship SID Board Readiness Programme to launch the SID-SCS Women in Tech Board Readiness Programme to prepare senior executives and professionals from the digital and tech space for board directorship positions. The first cohort commenced on 28 July 2023 and will graduate on 28 June 2024. The second cohort will commence in July 2024.
