Launch of SID Chairpersons Guild

Ladies and gentlemen 

On behalf of the Singapore Institute of Directors, I would like to convey our appreciation to Minister Chee for officiating the launch of the SID Chairpersons Guild and to all of you for being present this morning to witness the launch.

As the National association for company directors, SID has been uplifting the directorship profession and championing good corporate governance since its inception in 1998.

Over the years, whilst we have widened SID’s reach to the broader director community, SID continues to expand its offerings for Listco directors. 

The Chairpersons Guild is one of our latest initiatives. Developed to complement MAS and SGX’s “Value Up” programme and with all SGX Listco board chairs in mind, our goal is to support them in further enhancing the value of their companies.

We hope that this will be a platform that brings together all SGX Listco board chairs, so they may benefit from the latest expert insights, sharing from experienced practitioners, as well as networking opportunities. We aim to create a community of practice for peer learning and mutual support for board chairs. 

To get the programme off the ground, SID is offering a complimentary one-year SID membership to all board chairs of SGX Listcos so they can immediately benefit from SID’s wide range of programs as well as its holistic ecosystem. 

In addition, SID is offering a special package for all Chairpersons Guild members to the “Chairperson Accelerator Programme”, a specially curated program which we conduct jointly with Heidrick & Struggles. Today, we are very pleased to be joined by UBS, McKinsey, and Heidrick & Struggles, as our Knowledge Partners for the Chairpersons Guild programme. 

All three of them will be tapping into their resources to curate a variety of interesting topics for the programme. You will get to hear from each of them later this morning, so please stay right to the end.

We will share more details of the Chairpersons Guild programme over time, so to all the SGX Listco board chairs, please connect with us, participate actively, so that you can benefit fully from this Program.

Aside from the Chairpersons Guild, SID will also be launching a number of other initiatives to further our mission and to help Listed company Directors stay current, competent and effective, 

These include:
The LED Exchange for ListCo directors to come together to receive regulatory updates, peer learning and networking;

The Advanced Global Directors Programme in partnership with Emeritus and Shanghai Jiao Tong University for director learning and networking with Chinese directors as the course will be conducted in Spore and Shanghai;

The CEOExpand programme by Strategy firm GrowthCurv for practical and structured corporate strategy development involving both Board & Mgmt; and

The Strategic Organisations programme by Consulting firm Aligence to help companies develop new business models using systems thinking as they transform themselves. 

Later this morning, we will also launch the SID Board Academy and unveil its new logo, a sub-brand of SID which is focused on delivering customised programmes for whole-of-boards to help transform boards and enhance their effectiveness.

We are currently working on various initiatives and will share further details in due course. SID is committed to building on its strong foundation laid over the past 27 years, to advance its mission by going Forward, Upward and Outward.
