TAC2 - Strategy Development and Sustainable Governance Programme

Course description

Trade Associations and Chambers (TACs) play a vital role in advancing industry development, representing member interests, and shaping Singapore’s economic landscape. As expectations on TAC governance and leadership continue to rise, council members must be equipped to provide strategic direction, strengthen council-management dynamics, and ensure long-term sustainability.

This track of the Leadership Programme for TAC Council series focused on Strategy Development and Sustainable Governance is designed for council members and senior management of Singapore’s TACs, focusing on the council’s role in steering strategic priorities and embedding sustainable governance practices. Participants will gain practical insights and tools to guide decision-making, oversight and organisational impact in a rapidly evolving environment.

Course objectives

  • Anchor TAC strategy in organisational purpose and member/industry needs to guide long-term priorities.
  • Lead the TAC strategy cycle effectively, set direction, approve key initiatives, track outcomes and enable execution by management.
  • Make balanced governance decisions across competing priorities, such as programmes, advocacy, partnerships and capability-building within resource constraints.
  • Strengthen sustainable governance, set sustainability direction and oversight, and enhance accountability and credibility with key stakeholders.

Course outline

The half-day programme will cover the following areas:

Strategy Development

  • Anchor TAC strategy in purpose, mandate and member/industry needs.
  • Lead the strategy cycle: set direction, approve initiatives and track outcomes.
  • Balance competing priorities across programmes, advocacy, partnerships and capability-building.
  • Group discussion: Council decision-making in strategy development.

Sustainable Governance

  • Understand sustainability governance beyond compliance.
  • Set sustainability direction and oversight aligned to the TAC Governance Framework.
  • Embed environmental, social and economic considerations into TAC decision-making.
  • Group discussion: Strengthen TAC credibility through sustainable governance.

Current, new or aspiring directors and senior management of Trade Associations and Chambers (TACs) in Singapore.

Half-day workshop.

Without Funding: $752.10 (incl. 9% GST)
With Enterprise SG Funding*: $225.63 (incl. 9% GST)
*Eligible participants from TACs are entitled to up to 70% funding support from Enterprise Singapore. (SBF will the conduct eligibility assessment)
