MCD 3 - NRC and Talent Management

This seminar will equip participants with the knowledge needed to be part of a nominating committees (NC), and to an extent, a remuneration committee (RC). Topics discussed will explore the role of the NC in board and CEO selection, evaluation and succession planning, as well as talent management. The aim is to align talent strategy with organisational strategy and culture.


Course Objectives

  • Understand the responsibilities of the NC in board and talent management.
  • Learn about the board’s accountability in the selection, evaluation and nominating process of senior executives and board members.
  • Explore the NC’s and board’s role in driving board effectiveness.
  • Examine the links between human capital strategy and business strategy.

SPEAKERS

Fermin Diez
Adjunct Professor, NUS

Dr Fermin Diez is an adjunct Professor at the NUS, NTU, and SMU Business Schools. Dr Diez has written three books on Strategic Human Resources, Remuneration, and HR Analytics, and is certified as an IHRP Master Professional (IHRP-MP), as well as a Global Remuneration Professional (GRP), a Senior HR Professional (SHRP) and a Fellow of SID. He has experience in human resources, held consulting, corporate and academic roles in organisations worldwide, sits on the board of the Singapore HR Institute, and is the Dean for Human Resource Studies at IHRP.

Jon Robinson
Executive Remuneration Adviser and Independent Director

Mr Jon Robinson has more than 30 years of experience in the areas of human resources, remuneration, governance, financial services, strategic planning and execution. His experience is supplemented by extensive knowledge of Asian market business practices and culture, including Singapore, Hong Kong and Indonesia. Outside of consulting, Mr Robinson led the Asia business arm of the Vanguard Group, where he managed key accounts in sovereign wealth funds. He is an independent director of Pickering Pacific, Adansonia and the Singapore office of the Certified Alternative Investment Analyst Association. He is a Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst and a Fellow of the Singapore Institute of Directors.
