Advanced Programme on Sustainability
As the adoption of environmental, social and governance (ESG) practices matures in Singapore, it is essential for board directors to engage in advanced training to expand their knowledge and help prepare their companies for the next stage of the ESG journey. This programme is specifically curated for board directors of listed companies, delving deeper into sustainability governance at the board level. It prepares directors to meet regulatory changes, such as sustainability reporting based on International Financial Reporting Standards, while integrating sustainability into business strategy for long-term success.


Presented by SID, in collaboration with SGX RegCo and KPMG, the programme is delivered through presentations, case studies, panel discussions and Q&A sessions. Participants will receive a comprehensive brief on their role in driving sustainability initiatives and ensuring organisational resilience.

SPEAKERS AND PANELLISTS



Somani Sharad
Partner and Head of Infrastructure Sector (Asia Pacific), Head of ESG, KPMG Singapore


Mr Somani Sharad is the Asia Pacific Head of Infrastructure for KPMG and Head of KPMG ESG. He advises clients in the space of energy transition, decarbonisation, smart infrastructure, infratech and Public Private Partnerships (PPPs) across infrastructure sectors. Over the last 20 years or so, he has advised clients in power, energy, water, cities and transport sector covering the entire lifecycle from conceptualisation to operations. Mr Somani brings in-depth experience of working with different stakeholders including governments, regulatory agencies, developers, financial institutions and technology providers. He has been focused on leveraging technology for better infrastructure delivery as well structuring innovative financing for infrastructure sector. Energy transition and climate change are key parts of his focus as clients navigate the environment and sustainability challenges. 



Owen Hawkes
Partner, Forensic, Advisory, KPMG Singapore


Mr Owen Hawkes is a Partner in KPMG’s Forensic practice in Singapore, with 20 years of regulatory investigation and risk management experience. He has qualified and practised both as an accountant and a lawyer. Prior to joining KPMG, Mr Hawkes practiced as a barrister for eight years, six of which were at the British Government’s Serious Fraud Office – the UK’s lead agency on financial crime and international corruption. After joining KPMG Forensic in 2007, he has undertaken a variety of fraud and regulatory risk management engagements assisting clients with assessing and upgrading their organisational readiness and fraud and regulatory risk controls. Mr Hawkes is a leading expert in investigations, forensic accounting and asset recovery. 

Cherine Fok
Partner, ESG, KPMG Singapore

Ms Cherine Fok is the lead of Sustainability Services for KPMG Singapore. She has more than 15 years of experience in accounting and advisory projects that promote initiatives for sustainable development. Ms Fok specialises in corporate sustainability strategies, implementation, and monitoring and reporting of social and environmental initiatives. A frequent speaker at industry dialogues and conferences on sustainable development issues, she has worked with the Securities Investors Association (Singapore), Singapore Environment Council, Singapore Green Buildings Association, Women’s Forum Asia, the British Chamber of Commerce, Women in Energy, Asia, Asian Venture Philanthropy Network, TBLI Impact Investing, SG75, SOS and Empiricon. 



Rachel Yee
Director, ESG, KPMG Singapore


Ms Rachel Yee is a consultant with over 17 years of experience with the professional accounting firms. She has led and participated projects that include climate risks assessments, sustainability reporting, corporate governance framework, enterprise risk management, internal audits, Sarbanes Oxley 404 and business processes. Ms Yee also conducts ESG workshops and is a part-time teaching associate, for sustainability reporting courses, with local institutes of higher learning. 

Tan Yen Ling
Director, ESG, KPMG Singapore

Ms Tan Yen Ling, a Director at KPMG ESG and brings over 7 years of working experience in sustainability and ESG reporting across sectors such as aviation, food, transport, and logistics for SGX-listed companies. She specializes in advising on the implementation of new reporting standards and has managed sustainability/ESG reporting for multinational corporations operating across diverse geographies and jurisdictions. Her expertise spans compliance with frameworks such as the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI), SGX sustainability reporting guidelines, and the Taskforce on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD). Additionally, Ms Tan has conducted multiple capability-building workshops on ESG reporting, greenhouse gas (GHG) accounting, and supply chain ESG risk assessment.

Jade Feinburg
Director, ESG, KPMG Singapore

Ms Jade Feinberg is a director at KPMG ESG. With over 13 years of sustainability experience, she leverages a broad sustainability background in sustainability and climate change strategies, renewable energy projects and carbon markets. She has worked within private and public markets alongside governments, multilateral institutions, companies and private investors throughout Africa and the ASEAN region advising on key climate instruments and mechanisms including governance aspects of Greenhouse gas (GHG) accounting, reporting and review, climate finance and carbon markets. While at SGX, Ms Feinberg was the lead representative on the World Bank Climate Warehouse consultation providing key insights from a Singapore ecosystem perspective and was the alternate for the Taskforce for Nature-related Financial Disclosures (TFND) to provide key insights for the development of the framework, metrics and targets as well as capacity building and alignment of the TNFD to the Singapore and broader ASEAN ecosystem strategy.

Wendy Wong
Associate Director, ESG, KPMG Singapore

Ms Wendy Wong is an Associate Director at KPMG ESG and brings over two decades of experience in the sustainability landscape. She excels in sustainability reporting, leveraging frameworks like Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) to drive transparency and accountability. At KPMG, Ms Wong’s expertise extends to development of net zero strategies and decarbonisation roadmaps, including carbon target setting and feasibility analysis, empowering organisations to thrive in a responsible and resilient manner. Prior to joining KPMG, she was a Senior Lecturer at Republic Polytechnic.

Eliza Tan
Senior Vice President, Listing Compliance, Singapore Exchange Regulation

Ms Eliza Tan is the Vice President of Listing Compliance at Singapore Exchange Regulation, a subsidiary of Singapore Exchange (SGX) that undertakes frontline regulatory functions. She monitors listed issuers’ compliance with the continuous listing obligations under the Listing Rules. These include continuous disclosure requirements; corporate action applications; as well as investigation and enforcement of listing rule breaches.


Tan Wei Lin 
Director, Philanthropic Strategy, National Council of Social Services 

Dr Tan Wei Lin is the Director of Philanthropic Strategy at the National Council of Social Services (NCSS) in Singapore. With more than 15 years of experience in strategy formulation and execution in the financial services industry, Dr Tan leads the development of the Sustainable Philanthropy Framework at NCSS, encouraging corporations to integrate shared value into their business models to achieve both social impact and business success. In her previous roles, Dr Tan spearheaded innovation strategies that accelerated technological advancements, forming partnerships and collaborations with industry groups, fintech players, and policy-makers. She also played a crucial role in revamping operating models, enhancing processes, and incorporating sustainability agendas into organisations.




Grace Ho
Independent Director, YTL Starhill Global REIT Management Limited

Ms Grace Ho serves as an independent director on the boards of Singapore-listed MTQ Corporation and YTL Starhill Global REIT Management (YSGRM) where she is also the board sustainability lead. She is also an independent director of SQL View and adviser on the National Library Board’s Digital Services and Customer Experience council and is a former independent director at NTUC Link. In addition, Ms Ho is a consultant and trainer with GoImpact Capital Partners, where she engages with corporates, business associations and education institutions to accelerate the development of sustainability education and advocacy. With more than 20 years of experience in technology and multinational corporates, she was among the Singapore Top 100 Women-in-Tech announced by the Singapore Computer Society in 2021.

Foo Peng Er  
Vice President, Group Sustainability, CapitaLand Investment

Ms Foo Peng Er is actively involved in implementing the CapitaLand Investment 2030 Sustainability Master Plan. She spearheads the benchmarking and auditing of the CapitaLand Investment Global Sustainability Report, providing transparency to the group’s ESG strategy and performance. She is a member of the expert advisory group on buildings (Science-Based Targets Initiative), sustainability taskforce (Real Estate Investment Trust Association of Singapore) and transition finance workstream (Singapore Sustainable Finance Association). She was formerly a member of the Asian benchmark committee (Global Real Estate Sustainability Benchmark) and the construction and landscape committee (Workplace Safety and Health Council), as well as an elected board member of the Singapore Green Building Council.



Shai Ganu, FSID
Council Member, Singapore Institute of Directors

Mr Shai Ganu is the global leader of the Executive Compensation and Board Advisory business at WTW. He leads a team of over 500 consultants across 45 countries and serves as a trusted adviser to boards and committees of more than 100 leading companies globally. A Senior Accredited Director, he serves as an independent director on the boards of leading companies and not-for-profit organisations. He is a Fellow and Council member of Singapore Institute of Directors and chairs the ESG Chapter. He is also a member of World Economic Forum’s Climate Governance community of experts and global governing board member of its Climate Governance Initiative.



May Tan-Mullins 
Professor of Sustainability, Provost and CEO, University of Reading Malaysia


Ms May Tan-Mullins is an Advisor for Skilledin Green which acts a hub for green skills, thriving sustainability careers and future-proofed pathways. Prior to this, she was with James Cook University Singapore as Dean International and Chief Sustainability Officer and the Vice Provost of Teaching and Learning at University of Nottingham Ningbo China. Her past senior leadership experience included Associate Provost for Global Engagement, Dean of Graduate School and the Director of Institute of Asia and Pacific Studies. She is also a professor in International Relations and her research interests are political ecology of rising China, environmental and energy justice, poverty alleviation and building resilience for the poorest and most vulnerable against climate change.  Based on her expertise in various international development and human security issues, she is a consultant for the UNDP, National Bureau of Asian Research (US), the Revenue Watch Institute (US) and the Chinese government.
