Accredited Director Series: Climate Governance Immersive (Resilience and Governance Dialogue)

Co-presented by Climate Governance Singapore (CGS), Singapore Institute of Directors (SID), National University of Singapore (NUS) and City Developments Limited (CDL), the dialogue will bring together sustainability leaders from academia, business and governance to explore climate threats and opportunities, and discuss how organisations can strengthen resilience through high-impact solutions, stronger governance and forward-looking practices for long-term survival.

As global temperatures continue to reach record highs, cities are increasingly confronting the growing challenge of extreme heat, a “silent killer” with far-reaching impacts on public health, liveability and economic performance. Rising temperatures are already affecting livelihoods, productivity and business continuity, making heat resilience an issue that companies can no longer afford to overlook at both management and board levels.

Climate Governance Singapore (CGS) is the local chapter of the global Climate Governance Initiative (CGI), operating as a dedicated initiative to equip board members in Singapore to future-proof businesses against climate change. Launched in 2021, CGS works within the Singapore Institute of Directors (SID) to provide directors with the knowledge, tools, and strategic frameworks needed to embed climate considerations into boardrooms, serving as a regional model for Asia.

The dialogue will examine how Singapore’s “City in Nature” vision can help mitigate urban heat stress through cross-sector collaboration, innovative technologies, nature-based solutions such as microforests, and stronger sustainability reporting and governance practices to enhance long-term business resilience. This will be followed by a hosted visit to the CDL Green Gallery for a tour of the Second 'Melting Ice, Sinking Cities' Climate Exhibition – The Arctic Impact which spotlights the climate emergency and its implications for cities and communities.
