Enabling your directorship journey
Dear Members,
February may have been a short month, but it certainly was a productive one – with a slew of meaningful initiatives for our members.
Cyber Resilience Guide and MOU with Nexus, MINDEF
On 12 February, SID launched the Cyber Resilience Guide for Boards in Singapore and invited members to be part of Exercise SG Ready, a Total Defence initiative. Our guest-of-honour Mr Tan Kiat How, Senior Minister of State, Ministry of Digital Development and Information & Ministry of National Development engaged in a dialogue moderated by SID Council member Dr Chong Yoke Sin. He also witnessed the signing of an MOU between SID and Nexus, MINDEF to avail resources to directors to help ready their companies for disruptions.
Getting started on your directorship journey
Our professional development programmes for new and aspiring directors got off to a strong start, with a great turnout for So, You want to be a NonProfit Director, Board and Director Fundamentals and Director Financial Reporting Fundamentals.
If you missed them, check out upcoming sessions here. Registrations for our signature 10-month Board Readiness Programme, delivered in partnership with our knowledge partners, are open until 31 March 2025. Registrations are also open for our flagship programmes for practicing directors like the Listed Entity Directors (LED) Programme, kicking off in March.
New courses
Last month marked another milestone, with the delivery of a new two-day AI Governance module as part of the SDP. This new module is aimed at equipping board directors with a comprehensive understanding of AI governance, focusing on the implications of generative AI and others forms of AI on business strategy, labour, economy and talent.
We are also excited to launch our inaugural Leadership Programme for Trade Associations and Chambers (TAC) Councils on 27 March. Sign up here if you’d like to know more about the growing role played by TACs in the corporate governance ecosystem.
Enhancing value for our members
We hosted our first SID New Members Meet & Mingle session of the year on 19 February which was attended by over 60 members. It was heartwarming to see such lively engagement highlighting that the value of SID membership goes beyond learning to strengthening the connections and support systems within the director community.
As part of the individual membership benefits, members enjoy complimentary access to our Current Topic webinars which offer continuous professional development (CPD) hours. We presented an online webinar on Unlocking Value with Advisory Boards on 12 February.
We also host complimentary in-person events exclusively for members, such as the briefing session on 27 February presented by Asian Corporate Governance Association on the Regional Developments and Impact on Corporate Boards. Stay tuned to take advantage of these opportunities.
Our Women Directors Chapter hosted a workshop – Discover Your “Good” Brand – where participants explored their unique strengths and personal brand to advance in their boardroom journey.

SID Directors Bulletin
Future-Proofing Boards for Disruption
What does a future-ready board look like? In an era of seismic shifts, from climate change to technological disruption, boards must do more than keep pace – they must lead the change. The board should serve as the moral compass of the organisation and drive the organisational culture. The board also has to facilitate learning and development, and commit to continuous self-examination, stepping back regularly to scrutinise decision-making processes and outcomes.
