Connecting the Ecosystem
Dear Members,
Our first quarter this year has been marked by impactful collaborations with leading industry partners and regulators. Strong partnerships within the corporate governance ecosystem help empower directors and enhance governance standards.
The inaugural Leadership Programme for Trade Associations and Charities (TAC) Councils took place last month. Jointly organised by the Singapore Business Federation and SID, the programme focuses on enhancing governance, strategic decision-making and leadership within Singapore’s TACs. If you missed the March session, don’t worry – join us for the next session on 8 July 2025.
On 16 April, SID, CFA Society and SFDA are organising a joint presentation Beyond SG60: Propelling Singapore Forward as a Trusted Financial Hub. Seats are complimentary and limited to members of any of the three organisations.
We co-hosted a Post-Budget Perspectives forum with KPMG in Singapore for board directors and CEOs, exploring the strategic implications of Singapore’s Budget 2025 (see below). Key takeaways were published in articles in The Straits Times and The Business Times.
Cyber resilience and AI
Together with ISTARI and NCS, and with the support of Cyber Security Agency of Singapore, we are kicking off the first Cyber Resilience Training for Boards, scheduled on 14 April 2025. This session is oversubscribed but you can look out for other sessions later in the year. Participants get a complimentary print copy of the Cyber Resilience Guide for Boards in Singapore.
Read the latest Q2 2025 SID Directors Bulletin on “AI Redefining Everything”, hot off the press. This issue explores how artificial intelligence is revolutionising industries and reshaping governance frameworks, providing directors with insights to lead confidently in an AI-driven future.
Sustainability governance
As the national secretariat for Climate Governance Singapore, SID hosted a webinar on A Director’s Guide for Navigating Climate Change. Watch the webinar replay and explore other resources here.
The next run of our Advanced Programme on Sustainability (26-27 June 2025), jointly presented with SGX RegCo and KPMG, will explore integrating sustainability into business strategies.
You can also register for an online presentation on the Transatlantic Divide on ESG. Taking place on 27 May 2025, the session highlights the different ESG frameworks in the US and Europe, and global alignment strategies.
Board ready
The registration deadline for SID’s signature Board Readiness Programme has been extended to 14 April 2025. Kicking off on 25 July 2025, this 10-month programme prepares senior executives and professionals for board roles through professional training, board simulation exercises, mentorship and networking.
Look out also for the launch of our Listed Entity Directors Bridging Programme, a 15-hour streamlined course endorsed by SGX to enable first-time directors to meet mandatory training requirements. Kicking off on 30 April, the course offers a streamlined alternative to the full LED programme.
If you missed our first Members Networking event of 2025 in collaboration with Diligent on 6 March 2025 (see below), be sure to bookmark this page to stay updated on upcoming complimentary events for members.
One of our key member events is the Annual Golf Tournament taking on 13 June 2025. Bringing together members and supporters, a day on the green helps SID raise essential funds for its work. Last, but certainly not least, we are excited to share that super early bird registration for the SID Directors Conference – “Transformational Directorship: Purpose, Practice, Performance” starts on 21 April 2025. SID Directors Bulletin
Strategic Agility in an AI World
Artificial Intelligence, or AI, is the harbinger of mega-change, says David Wilkins, and boards must carefully consider how their organisations respond. AI is not just reshaping how we work, live and play; it is fundamentally changing how we think about business, society and the future. Tracing the history and timeline of AI and innovation through the years, the author asserts that successful companies should harness AI to achieve distinct relevance and drive business transformation. AI must become part of the solution, not just a challenge to overcome.
