S-GOOD – VCF Funding

1. ABOUT VWOS-CHARITIES CAPABILITY FUND (VCF) TRAINING GRANT

Eligibility is determined by the VWOs-Charities Capability Fund (VCF) that provides co-funding for local training courses to help charities comply with regulatory requirements and build good governance standards.

All exempt, registered charities and Institutions of a Public Character (IPCs) can apply for the VCF, and are required to fill in the VCF Training Grant Refund Form. Eligibility criteria is based on the following:

(a) Applicant is a staff of a Charity/IPC.
(b) Applicant has at least a year of service remaining with the Charity/IPC at the point of application (if applicant is an Employment Pass or Work Permit holder).
(c) Applicant has not applied for other sources of government funding for the course.
(d) Applicant can be from the same or related Charity/IPC organisation as the Training Provider and Trainer, provided that the course is open to all Charities/IPCs and there are other Charities/IPCs attending the course.

Applications are to be made prior to course dates. 

Approved applicants are funded up to the quantum specified below:

To fulfil the requirements for the VCF training grant, eligible participants must achieve at least 75% attendance and submit a completed training evaluation form. For more information, please visit the VCF website: www.ssi.sg/training.

Upon registration for the course administered by SID, applicants have to pay the full amount of the course fee. The application for the VCF training grant is a separate process done on the NCSS website (www.ncss.gov.sg) – See Q2. “How do I apply for the VCF training grant?”

In the event the training grant is approved by NCSS, eligible participants should submit within one week of the course date, the following to the Singapore Institute of Directors (events@sid.org.sg or 168 Robinson Road, #11-03 Capital Tower, Singapore 068912) to receive a refund of the subsidy amount:

a. VCF Training Grant Refund Form.
b. VCF Approval Email of eligibility for Local Training Grant.

The refund process may take up to four weeks from the completion of the course, subject to eligibility and submission of all required information.

The VCF training grant is non-transferrable, and valid only for the stated course and date. Participants must apply for the VCF training grant for each course, which is subject to approval by NCSS.

VCF-eligible participants who are unable to attend the course must email the VCF secretariat to withdraw their VCF applications before the course starts.

Replacement participants will need to submit new VCF applications before the course starts.

On the course date, eligible participants are required to produce identification documents (i.e. NRIC, Employment Pass or Work Permit) during registration for verification.

2. COURSE REGISTRATION

Interested participants can register directly on the SID website (www.sid.org.sg) by creating an account.

There is no limit to the total number of SID courses that applicants can register for. However, application for the VCF training grant has to be made for each course, and is subject to approval by NCSS.

Registration is on a first-come-first-served basis, with priority to VCF-funded applicants.

Should the course be fully subscribed, interested parties may ask to be placed on the waitlist (www.sid.org.sg), and will be notified to register in the event new openings are available

The course is open to all participants.

Registration for SID courses opens approximately 3 months before the course and closes 5 days prior to the course.

Upon successful registration, registrants will receive a course notification. In addition, a reminder email notification will be sent to registrants approximately one week prior to the course.

This course is not eligible for SkillsFuture credit.

A participant is deemed to be successfully registered for the course once an invoice is generated. There is strictly no cancellation or refund of fees once the participant is successfully registered for the course. In the event that the application for VCF training grant is not approved, participants will be liable for the full course fees, if they have successfully registered for the programme.

In the event the application for the VCF training grant is approved by NCSS, eligible participants should submit the required documents to SID for a refund. (See Q5. “Do I receive the VCF training grant upon registration?”)
 
In the event that the application for VCF training grant is not approved by NCSS, participants will be liable for the full course fees, if they have successfully registered for the programme. (See Q17. “Will there be any refund of fees if I withdraw from the course after payment?”)

SID will exercise all possible care to run the confirmed courses. However, in the event of unforeseen circumstances, SID reserves the right to cancel or defer the course and/or to change venue, speaker, course date and fees. SID will make all reasonable effort to notify participants of changes, should they happen. If SID cancels a course, a full refund will be made to the registered participant.
