LED6 - Board Risk Committee Essentials

Course Description The Board Risk Committee (BRC) plays the primary role of supporting the board in ensuring the adequacy and effectiveness of risk management and internal control systems. As the BRC is not mandatory, the module examines the various governance structures by which boards can have oversight.

The rest of the module covers the duties of the BRC (or other such committee responsible) in relation to risk management and internal controls, the regulatory environment, and how it can obtain assurance for its disclosure. Key concepts of risk and risk management, including the risk universe, enterprise risk management (ERM) frameworks, and governance, risk and compliance (GRC) frameworks, are explained.
