Mr Tham is a chartered accountant. He was for many years a member of KPMG’s global board, its executive committee and its risk committee, and had responsibility for its Asia Pacific regional operations as its chairman. As a practising accountant, he was retained by companies large and small to lead a wide range of audit and consulting work. He was an early participant in the area of IT security, and in different capacities during his career had responsibility for developing the IT infrastructure in KPMG Singapore, overseeing IT risks in KPMG globally and assisting clients in IT security consulting work.
He is the audit committee chairman of the Housing Development Board, Nanyang Polytechnic, Mount Alvernia Hospital, and Singapore International Arbitration Centre. He also serves on the boards of the Accounting and Corporate Regulatory Authority, the regulator of businesses in Singapore, and DBS Group Holdings Ltd.
