The staid and conservative world of audit and accounting is transforming, and audit committees (ACs) are often finding themselves in the middle of the upheavals.
In the last two years alone, ACs have been hit with a slew of changes such as the transition to a new accounting framework (SFRS(I)); major new accounting standards (SFRS(I) 9 Financial Instruments and SFRS(I) 15 Revenue Accounting); responding to KAMs with the enhanced auditor reporting and producing an AC commentary in the annual report; AQIs and an enhanced FRSP by the regulators.
Even as ACs absorb these changes, more are coming in 2019 with a new accounting standard (SFRS(I) 16 Leases) and the recently released fourth edition of the Code of Corporate Governance and related Listing Rule changes.
At the AC Seminar 2019, ACRA and SGX will share details of the latest regulatory changes impacting ACs, and experts and practitioners will discuss how AC chairs and members can respond and work effectively in this new normal.
