Mr Tay holds directorships in several public listed companies, serving in a variety of committees viz, audit, executive, compensation and nomination. He is currently Chairman of Stirling Coleman Group Limited. He served as Adjunct Professor in the School of Accountancy and Business of The Nanyang Technological University from 1988 to June 2003. Mr Tay was Chairman and Managing Partner of KPMG Peat Marwick Singapore from 1984 to 1993 as well as concurrently a member of both KPMG International Board and its Executive Committee. He was the President of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Singapore from 1982 to 1992 and Chairman of Edusave Advisory Council from 1993 to 2000. He was Chairman of the Singapore International Chamber of Commerce from 1995 to 1997 and continues to serve as a Board member of the Chamber. A Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England & Wales, Mr Tay was awarded the First International Award by the Institute in 1988 for his contribution to the profession. He was conferred the Bintang Bakti Masharakat (Public Service Star) by the President of the Republic of Singapore in 1990.
