Council Member


Dr. Ahmad Magad is Group Managing Director of II-VI Asia Manufacturing Operations. The company is specialised in the manufacture of infrared materials, optical components and systems, and thermo-electric modules for applications in the industrial, military and medical fields.

In January 1997 he was elected as a Member of Parliament (MP) for Pasir Ris Group Representation Constituency (GRC), and in March 2001 and again, in May 2006, was re-elected as MP for the reconstituted Pasir Ris-Punggol GRC. He is also currently Chairman of the Estimates Committee of Parliament.

He is also a council member of the National Productivity and Continuing Education Council and also serves as Deputy Chairman of the Malay Heritage Foundation.

Dr. Ahmad Magad is also President of the Singapore Productivity Association - a position he held since 1999. He also sits in the Councils of the Singapore Institute of Directors and the Singapore Manufacturers Federation (as Vice-President) and is also Advisor to the Singapore Institute of Management Consultants.

As an alumni member of the Asian Institute of Management, he was awarded the prestigious Alumni Achievement Award (Triple 'A' Award) in 2002 for distinguished achievement in management education and recognition of his contribution to society. He was also accorded the Achiever of the Year award by the Singapore Malay Chamber of Commerce and Industry in 2004.

He is also a Fellow Member of CPA (Australia) and the Chartered Institute of Marketing (UK).
