AC Pit-Stop: The AC’s Role in Crisis Management

AC Pit-Stop: The AC’s Role in Crisis Management
Small to mid-sized listcos operate in a world with far less media and investor attention than the big caps. With less access to "oxygen of capital" due to lower valuations, liquidity and public profile, they face many challenges.

At the same time, they occasionally face crisis situations, be it the sudden loss of a major customer, a plant accident, internal corporate fraud and, increasingly, shareholder activism.

Over a two-hour session, IR veteran Lai Kwok Kin, Founder and Managing Director of the WeR1 Group, will share his insights and tips with directors, including AC members.

Participants will:

  • Gain a better understanding of how the changes in the media sector impact coverage, especially in business pages
  • Obtain insights of news cycles and how ACs can guide listcos to meet the needs of news editors while adhering to disclosure rules and at the same time improving investor profile
  • Review common mistakes by listcos when making important announcements or handling a crisis
  • Explore angles that editors are looking for and which listcos tend to ignore
  • Discuss the AC’s role in preventing and managing crises, using specific case studies
